International Sailing Chaplains Training, April 14-27, 2008To all ICMA and ICSW members: The 3rd International Sailing Chaplains Training will be held 14th to 27th April 2008 in Lohja, Finland. Place is a new maritime training centre (for more information see www.meriturva.fi). Lecturers will be specialists of their special area. This training is aimed for experienced maritime welfare workers. There are 12 places available for this course. Until now two trainings has been held, one in 2005 and second one in 2006. The ISCT Supervisor selects the most suitable candidates for each course. The number of trainees for each course is restricted to maximum 12. The training course gives a basic toolbox for sailing chaplain’s work. It also includes a STCW-95 Basic Training. After completed training the chaplains are entitled the ICMA Sailing Chaplain title and may carry a Sailing Chaplain ID issued by ICMA. The training and full board during it are free of charge. Support for travelling expenses can be offered upon request. A minimum contribution of 200 € is expected of all participants. Click here to see an application form in Rich-Text Format. NAMMA seeks to promote and expand maritime ministry locally and nationally by increasing awareness among the stakeholders of the services available to seafarers by NAMMA members. This includes maintaining a database of mariner services, the development of a consultant corps to assist local centers, and creating materials and opportunities. |
